You don't have to be in the tropics to benefit from the charging power of the sun, because it only needs sunlight and not heat of the sun in order to charge up. The speaker gives out 100 Watts of peak power, so it wouldn't be a good choice of a mobile disco. However, it will keep you company on a long journey, and it is great for providing music on a beach, or by the pool. It has a USB port into which you can plug a memory stick, and there is an SD slot to take a memory card. There is also a 1/8-inch AUX socket, by which you can connect the speaker outlet of your MP3 player or iPod, so you are not limited to the radio as a source of music.

There is one other benefit of this speaker – it has Bluetooth capabilities. That means you can play the music you have stored on your smartphone, or any other Bluetooth-enabled device, through the speaker. Even if you can't get a signal for calls from your cell, you will be able to set up communication between the speaker and your phone without a cable as long as the two are within 30 feet of each other.

The unit comes with a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry. You also get a headset microphone, which makes the speaker ideal as a hands-free PA system.
